Kokomo itself is the "City of Firsts," claiming a number of inventions that changed American lives. America's first car invented by Elwood Haynes in 1894... the first canned tomato juice developed by Kemp Brothers Canning Company in 1928... the first all transistor car radio developed by Delco Radio division of G.M. in 1957. The entrepreneurial spirit and innovative thinking from which these and other "firsts" grew are woven into the fabric of life in Kokomo, Indiana.
