St. Tammany Parish Hospital is a fully accredited not-for-profit community hospital of 232 licensed beds, plus specialty units. STPH has over 2,200 employees with one of the lowest turnover rates, meaning long-term relationships with physicians, coworkers and patients. Physicians and surgeons on active staff with STPH have thriving local medical practices. STPH's administration recognizes the value of its physicians and supports their success. Employment with STPH enables practitioners to build a career and serve the community, freed from the administrative burdens of private practice. The hospital's network physicians enjoy a 100-percent office-based medical practice, with network physicians sharing after-hours office call and hospitalists covering inpatient visits. Physicians are valued in decision-making and strategic planning. A physician serves as medical staff liaison on the STPH Board of Commissioners. The Chief Medical Officer is a full-time senior executive. Active staff physicians also populate the medical executive and specialty committees.
