About the Organization
Beaufort Memorial, is a not -for-profit hospital founded in 1944 on the banks of the Intracoastal Waterway, is licensed for 197 beds (169 acute, 14 rehabilitation and 14 mental health). We are an acute-care hospital, a regional referral center and the largest medical facility between Savannah Ga. and Charleston, S.C.
Fully accredited by the Joint Commission, Beaufort Memorial boasts a dedicated, high quality medical staff of nearly 230 board-certified or board -eligible providers.
In 2011 we were designated the first Pathway to Excellence hospital in South Carolina and have continued to earn re-designation since then.

About the Community
Living is easy in Beaufort. Residential communities are plentiful and vary in size, character and location. All provide short, low-to-no traffic commutes.
Schools from pre-K through high school including a number of public , private and faith based options with strong teaching and college preparatory curricula. University of South Carolina-Beaufort and Technical College of the Lowcountry offer post secondary school learning.
Among local houses of worship are churches of every denomination and a synagogue.
Shops and restaurants of all descriptions abound. Two lively well stocked farmers markets open weekly.
For bigger-city attractions, Charleston and Savannah are within comfortable driving distance of Beaufort (90 and 60 minutes receptively). Hilton Head Island about an hour south, features additional beaches golf courses and entertainment.
But residents mostly stay put, savoring the place the late Pat Conroy-who may be Beaufort's best-loved native son- called "my anchorage, my port of call."
