Black River Memorial Hospital is a financially strong, progressive, rural primary care facility with Joint Commission accreditation located between La Crosse and Eau Claire, WI in beautiful Gods country (along I-94 and roughly two hours from Downtown St. Paul). Our area is known for its seasonal recreational activities with beautiful lakes, parks and forests. Excellent public schools available.

Our Hospital underwent a 21.9 million dollar addition/renovation five years ago. The Hospital is strongly committed to the educational aspects of medicine and participates in a preceptorship program through the University of Wisconsin Medical School. We are a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital and Level IV Trauma Center with approximately 600 in-patient admits per year.
Our beautiful community, on the scenic Black River, known for its tree-clad ridges and deep valleys, affords a physician and their family a veritable four-seasons paradise.
The area boasts 34 miles of designated mountain bike trails in summer and cross-country ski trails in winter; over 300 miles of snowmobiling/ATV trails; and lakes, rivers and streams that offer both quiet family canoeing and thrilling rapids.
Locals enjoy the new indoor hockey rink, recreation complex with indoor pool and sports courts, large outdoor waterpark, beautifully landscaped, paved & lighted jogging/biking trail and 18-hole golf course with $1,000,000 clubhouse and restaurant.
The local school district ranks in the upper percentile of school systems in the country, with students consistently scoring higher than the national averages in ACT and SAT tests. Both gifted and special needs programs are available.
Restaurants and shopping are conveniently located. Within commuting distance of Eau Claire and La Crosse and less than 2 hours drive of Madison, Wisconsin and St. Paul, Minnesota; it's proximity gives easy access to additional cultural and sporting events.
