About the Organization
Salem Memorial District Hospital (SMDH) is a Critical Access Hospital with 25 acute-care beds and 18-bed Long Term Care beds located in the "Heart of the Ozarks."
-24-hour Emergency Department certified as a Level IV Stroke Center and a Level IV STEMI Center.
-SMDH EMS provides 24-hour, basic and advanced life support services with our on-campus ground and air ambulance service.
-Surgical Services offers both inpatient and outpatient surgical care.
-Radiology Services include full service new MRI, Digital X-Ray, CAT Scan with full 3-D capability, Bone mineral density, Ultrasound including Echocardiogram, 3D Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine testing.
-Laboratory Services are available 24 hours per day. Ninety-five percent of all lab tests are performed at SMDH, which allows results to your physician quickly.
-Cardio-Pulmonary Department offers services including pulmonary function testing, electrocardiograms, Holter monitors, stress tests, cardiac event monitors, as well as at-home and overnight sleep studies performed in our sleep lab.
-The Rehabilitation Department offers Physical and Occupational therapy in outpatient, inpatient and swing bed settings to maximize recovery.
-Home Health Services including skilled nursing services, physical therapy, occupational therapy and home health aide services for personal care.
-Dialysis serves patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) -and has offered services since 1974.
-A Rural Health Clinic as well as a visiting physician clinic allows patients to receive specialty services close to home.
SMDH is an approved National Health Service Corps site.

Salem Memorial District Hospital (SMDH) is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Salem, Missouri. SMDH is located in the Heart of the Ozarks surrounded by the Mark Twain National Forest and Ozark National Scenic Riverways.
The Mark Twain National Forest encompasses approximately 1.5 million acres in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. This diverse topography allows many recreational opportunities. The forest provides hiking, hunting, mountain biking or horseback riding. The Ozark National Scenic Riverways was established in 1964, making it America's first national park area to protect a wild river system. The park stretches for 134 miles along the Current River and Jacks Fork River to make up the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. The headwaters for the pristine Current River, is located in beautiful Montauk State Park, only minutes away from Salem.
