About the Organization
Primary Care Health Services, Inc. is a, federally qualified health center (FQHC), operating as a private, 501c3 non-profit, community based corporation, formed in 1976 to assume control of the Homewood-Brushton Neighborhood Health Center.
Today, Alma Illery Medical Center is the flagship for a network of ten community health centers operating across the greater Pittsburgh area. Our Mission is to provide primary and preventative health care services to medically underserved and indigent populations in Allegheny County regardless of ability to pay.
PCHS is committed to:
o developing healthcare centers in medically underserved areas
o ensuring that services are accessible, relevant, and satisfying
o rendering continuing care to patients by the same clinician
o educating patients to share responsibility for prevention and care
Services
PCHS operates a staff of approximately two dozen providers, supported by teams of nurses, medical assistants, hygienists and dental assistants. Primary Care Health Services offers a full array of primary care services.

About the Community
Primary Care Health Services, Inc. (PCHS) is celebrating its 42nd year of providing quality health care to the communities we serve. PCHS operates nine community health center service locations across the Pittsburgh metropolitan area and is the parent organization for the Wilkinsburg Family Support Program plus our Healthcare for the Homeless program.
PCHS provides primary healthcare and supportive services to a diverse population of young and elderly patients, disproportionately afflicted by common chronic ailments, e.g., diabetes hypertension respiratory, etc., and in need of enabling services.
Alma Illery Medical Center, our flagship, located on Hamilton Avenue in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh, is named to honor the late Alma Illery, community champion, "doctor of goodwill", and early advocate of integration in hospitals and health care. It our mission to carry on this goodwill.
