About the Organization
Merit Health Natchez and Merit Health Natchez Community Campus are combining services into one, stronger hospital to serve the healthecare needs of the Natchez community. Merit health Natchez is a 179 bed hospital and will be the home of the consolidated campus. Nearly 34,000 square feet of Merit Health Natchez is being renovated to expand access to health services, improve patient comfort and modernize by renovating and expanding several areas of the hospital. When complete, the combined hospital will be able to more closely coordinate care, operate more efficiently without duplication of services and better manage resources to enhance the care and experience we offer our patients.
About the Community
The oldest town on the Mississippi River, Natchez, is known internationally as a quaint, Southern town with a rich culture and heritage shaped by people of African, French, British and Spanish descent. Located on the river across from Vidalia in Concordia Parish, Louisiana, Natchez is some 90 miles southwest of Jackson and 85 miles north of Baton Rouge, LA. It is the 25th largest city in the state and is named for the Natchez tribe of Native Americans who once inhabited much of the area during the French colonization period. Natchez will celebrate its 3000th birthday in the year 2016.
