About the Organization
The Monroe Health Center was founded in 1972 as a rural family health care facility. Officially, it was under the auspices of the Monroe County Commission, and governed by a local Board of Trustees. Medical Professionals consist of full-time family practice physicians, pediatrician, physicians assistants, family nurse practitioners, psychologists, substance use disorder counselors, with many other various medical and administrative support staff located at both centers. As a secondary site of the main Center, the Peterstown Clinic also provides primary care including pediatric/adolescent, family planning, and preventive public health services. In 2005 & 2006, wellness Centers were opened in every school in the county. Children and staff are able to be seen by licensed healthcare professionals every day school is in session. Each Wellness Center is staffed by a Physicians Assistant or Nurse Practitioner and a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Other satellite facilities are located in Summers County, WV and Craig County, VA. The Craig County Health Center and our Forest Hill clinic offers services similar to the Peterstown Clinic with the exception of public health services.
In addition, The Craig County Dental Center was opened in 2010 and offers dental services for your entire family including pediatric to geriatric patients. Emergency appointments are available and evening appointments are offered.
