About the Organization
COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER OF LUBBOCK
In 1992, CHCL was formed by the Lubbock Indigent Healthcare Coalition to respond to the growing needs of the medically underserved. This coalition was made up of many individuals and organizations from across Lubbock.
CHCL has been the organization awarded federal and state funding since 1992. CHCL obtains and oversees federal and state funding. Over time, patient needs grew and in November 2001 CHCL began providing direct patient care to accommodate this growth and meet funding requirements. In September 2004 Chatman and Parkway Clinics became part of CHCL. Parkway Community Dental Clinic began seeing patients in March 2005. In July 2008 construction on the Arnett Benson Clinic (medical and dental) was completed and we opened to patients. In December 2015, CHCL's newly constructed Main Clinic opened to patients in downtown Lubbock.
Since 1998, CHCL has been accredited by JCAHO, which is the accrediting body for healthcare organizations across the world.
Part of the requirements of our federal funding is that our Board of Directors be made up of 51 percent consumers. Many of the board members live in the underserved area and have experienced firsthand the needs of the patients.
