About the Organization
Beaver Dam Community Hospital, a not-for-profit, fully accredited facility serving patients from the greater Dodge, Columbia and Fond du Lac counties. The hospital employs a caring staff of more than 100 physicians. Enhanced hospital services include a Surgery Center, a 24-hour Emergency Medicine Department, and Urgent Care Department.
The hospital has designed a comprehensive Sports Medicine Center and Community Wellness Center. In addition, a new leading-edge $100 million, 200,000-sq.-ft., 60-bed acute care hospital along with a privately owned $14 million physicians' office building was completed in 2006.
Beaver Dam (population 15,000 within the city limits and another 6,000 in surrounding subdivisions) is a picturesque community located in south central Wisconsin on Beaver Dam Lake. Surrounded by rich farmlands, it offers quiet neighborhoods and splendid rural vistas. Beaver Dam is situated just 40 minutes northeast of Madison, 90 minutes northwest of Milwaukee, 90 minutes south of Appleton, and two-and-a-half hours north of Chicago.
There is no shortage of recreational opportunities in Beaver Dam. Beaver Dam Lake has approximately 41 miles of shoreline, making it ideal for boating, water skiing, sailing, fishing, and ice boating. The city boasts two racetracks, two, exceptional 18-hole golf courses, and a new $12 million YMCA that houses two air-conditioned racquetball courts and an Olympic-size indoor swimming pool and lazy river. The Parks and Recreation Department maintains 18 beautifully landscaped parks encompassing some 282 acres in and around the city. Within a few minutes of Beaver Dam are snowmobile and bike trails, as well as the renowned Horicon Marsh Wildlife Refuge, the U.S.'s largest freshwater cattail marsh.
