About the Community
Vermont has long been a beautiful vacation destination whose beauty and serenity can be enjoyed year round. Many people come to Vermont to enjoy our lakes, hiking trails, and scenic back roads meandering through small towns. Both the Long Trail and Appalachian Trail pass through Vermont near the city of Rutland.
Rutland is a classic New England city with a population of 20,000, situated between Green Mountains to the east and the Taconics Mountains to the west. The main industry is General Electric, however, numerous smaller industries as well as tourism remain vital to the area, including skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, and scenic touring.
Roughly three hours from Boston and Montreal, and within driving distance of New York City, Rutland residents enjoy a relaxed lifestyle, low cost of living and great schools all with the cultural advantages of a small-city setting. Individuals and families have access to recreational and cultural activities for all ages.
