About the Organization
Eastport Health Care (EHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with two service locations, one in Eastport, Maine and one in Machias, Maine. They are about 60 minutes apart. Eastport is 30 minutes from the Canadian border in Calais, Maine. Eastport is 2 hours from Bangor, Maine and just under 4 hours from Portland, Maine.
People describe EHC as team-based care, patient-focused care, community-based care. We are proud of the extra mile we go for patients. We connect them to community resources whenever possible.
EHC Machias is located in a newly renovated building centrally located. We have Primary Care, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, and SUD Treatment. EHC has a full-time opening for a Primary Care Physician in Summer 2025.
EHC Eastport houses Primary Care, Dental Care, Behavioral Health and SUD Treatment. Most of administration and finance is located in Eastport as well. Many of our patients in Eastport are older adults and depend on EHC for their care. Our Primary Care Team consists of physicians, APP, Medical Assistants, a Clinical Coordinator RN, Care Managers (remote), and Patient Services Representatives.
EHC also has a Diabetes Prevention and Management Team that consists of an RN Coordinator, Community Health Worker, and a remote Registered Dietitian. EHC has an immediate full-time opening for a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

About the Community
EHC consists of two community health centers located in Eastport and Machias, Washington County, Maine, also known as Downeast Maine! Were located along Maines Bold Coast. It is bold rocky shores and cliffs gorgeous! If you like hiking, trail running, and exploring remote areas of natural beauty, this is the place for you. We have low-bush blueberry fields throughout the surrounding area. EHC Eastport is located in downtown Eastport on what is known as Moose Island, although there has been a causeway since the 1930s. Eastport is a small working waterfront community. We can see Campobello, Canada from Water Street. Eastport and Machias are home to an active arts community as well. Eastport is contiguous to Pleasant Point, also known as Sipayik, a Passamaquoddy Reservation. Machias is located along the Machias River and is a hub of activity around the University of Maine at Machias. EHC works with numerous community-based organizations that support our patients. There are many community events throughout the year, including Machias famous Blueberry Festival in August.
