About the Organization
Altura Centers for Health (ALTURA) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in central California that provides comprehensive, integrated, healthcare and social services to the underserved patient population in the San Joaquin Valley of California. ALTURA has been providing medical and dental care to the community since 1995, in response to community concerns regarding the health and social needs of low income immigrant population. ALTURA serves nearly 27,309 patients annually.
ALTURA first became a Federal Qualified look a-like clinic in 1997 and in 2000 became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), and is an FTCA deemed facility. In addition, the clinic is a 501 (C) 3 Non-profit Organization. ALTURA is governed by a committed Volunteer Community Board of Directors which meet once a month and serve on several committees. Cost of Housing/Own and Rentals: The Tulare/Visalia area has affordable housing with a small town feel. The Visalia/Tulare area has a living index of 0.90 which translates to more living space for less money (compared to Santa Barbara 126.0, San Francisco 138.0, Los Angeles 128.3).
Quality and Choice of Schools/Private, Public, Charter: The Tulare/Visalia schools offer excellent public education throughout K-12. All high schools offer advanced placement/pre-college level classes. Private schools are also available and would be an option if so desired.
