About the Community
Inpatient Medicine Social Work position with Richard L Roudebush VAMC. The Inpatient Medicine Social Worker provides social work services, care coordination and discharge planning to Veterans admitted to the inpatient medicine units at the Richard L. Roudebush VAMC. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the Medicine Social Worker works to insure that a veteran transitions efficiently from an inpatient level of care to the appropriate discharge level of care (e.g., outpatient with home health care, assisted living, extended-care facility). .
The inpatient Medicine Social Work position is a GS 9/11 position, with the full performance of the position being GS 11. The GS-9 grade is entry level grade for a social worker with less than one year of post-MSW experience and for social workers not yet licensed or certified at the independent practice level (LCSW). Social Workers at the GS-9 level are working toward completion of prerequisites for licensure or certification. Individuals assigned as GS-11 social workers are considered to be at the full performance level. A GS-11 social worker has a Masters Degree in Social Work granted by a graduate program fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and is independently licensed to practice (i.e. Licensed Clinical Social Worker Indiana).
