About the Organization
The Division of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine offers an ACGME accredited 12-month training program in Tampa, Florida.
The curriculum is designed to provide our trainees with advanced clinical training in SCI with exposure to the full spectrum of SCI care, learning acute management at inpatient rehabilitation and ventilator unit, as well as chronic management in the outpatient, long-term care, and home care settings.
Our program offers our trainee 10 months at the Spinal Cord Injury Center at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. There will also be a 1-month neurosurgery rotation at Tampa General Hospital (TGH). TGH is a level one trauma center and has been ranked High Performing in Neurology & Neurosurgery by U.S. News & World Report. The trainee will also rotate perform a total of 1-month pediatric spinal cord injury medicine at Shriners Hospital for Children with a pediatric neurologist, managing a variety of congenital and acquired spinal cord injury/disease.
Mission
To evaluate the full range of activities related to the fellowship training in Spinal Cord Injury, with a focus on improving training within the 6 ACGME core competencies: Patient Care, Medical Knowledge, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Systems-Based Practice, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, and Professionalism.
