About the Community
Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist - now a part of Advocate Health - operates a robust and diverse network of healthcare facilities across northwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia. Anchored by its 885-bed tertiary care hospital in Winston-Salem, the system includes four network hospitals, five emergency departments, three urgent care centers, and over 350 primary and specialty clinics. Key facilities include Brenner Childrens Hospital, the Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Level I adult and pediatric trauma centers.
The health system is deeply embedded in the communities it serves, offering care that extends beyond hospital walls. Through initiatives like the Downtown Health Plaza, which provides outpatient services to uninsured and underinsured residents of Forsyth County, and the Mobile Health Clinic, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist improves access to care for underserved populations. The DEAC Clinic, run by medical students, delivers free primary and specialty care to local residents.
Community engagement is central to its mission. Programs like the Center for Worker Health and Support, Counseling and Continuing Care services reflect a commitment to holistic health and long-term wellness. The system also supports clinical research and education through platforms like BeInvolved, inviting community members to participate in hundreds of ongoing studies.
From urban centers to rural communities, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care while fostering healthier, more resilient populations.
