About the Community
Right in the heart of Louisiana and in the soul of Cajun country, Opelousas is a family-oriented community with lots of culture and great people with deep roots to Louisiana.
We are a melting pot of cultural arts, music, festivals, and food like no where else on the planet! We are a Sportsman's paradise with easy access to hunting, fishing, and camping spots. Opelousas is also the home to food industries such as Tony Chachere's and Savoie's Sausage. And while many believe we have everything to offer locally, Opelousas is a quick 20-minute drive to Lafayette, 1 hour from Baton Rouge, and approximately 3 hours to the Houston area.
